Frank Zappa Discusses the Meridian Arts Ensemble

"...I would advise anybody who is in the vicinity of this group, the Meridian Arts Ensemble, if you see that they're playing in concert in your town, please go and see them. They're excellent. It's a brass quintet; they have wonderful intonation, excellent rhythm, and a good style to what they play. They play all different kinds of contemporary music, and they have decided to add some of my pieces to their repertoire, too. So, if you get a chance to see them someplace, you should check 'em out. They also have a CD out [Winning Artists Series] which is very impressive."

Frank Zappa, excerpted from a live interview on Alan Handelman's East Coast Live, on WRFX-FM Charlotte, NC, on June 6, 1993

Meridian Arts Ensemble has performed at a large number of diverse venues worldwide, including prestigious classical series such as Tanglewood and The Library of Congress, New York's legendary (and now sadly defunct) alternative music club CBGB’s, and the remote mountain town of Capulalpam in Oaxaca, Mexico. We are working on this page, and will eventually document every concert we have played since our founding in 1987.
